Jesus resurrected from the dead but what His death and resurrection has to do for us? If we say in one sentence, the resurrection of Jesus Christ brings restoration in every area of our lives.
When Adam and Eve sinned against God they not only got separated from God but also died spiritually as well as lost their peace and joy. They inherited the curse, toil, hardship, tears and sorrow. Sin is the root cause of all the problems that we see in this world, sorrow to death... But this world has been vehemently denying or ignoring the very cause of all our problems. They want a good life but do not want Jesus. All their efforts in coming out of their problems is in setting Jesus apart. But there is only one solution and that is Jesus Christ alone.
Jesus' resurrection brings wholeness in our life. If we carefully study the life of Adam and Eve we can see that they had no problems in the Garden of Eden where there was no death, no sorrow, no hard work but a life full of joy and peace. In other words they were designed to remain blessed and happy in the presence of God. But sin entered in this world and destroyed the beauty of life. But God made a way through His own Son Jesus Christ so that our sins could be forgiven and every area of our lives could be restored. We can have the same kind of life that Adam and Eve had before their fall when they lived in the presence of God enjoying.
When Noah was born, his father named him 'Noah' which meant "to comfort" saying, "This one will comfort us concerning our work and the toil of our hands, because of the ground which the LORD has cursed."(Gen 5:29) The comfort that was in the Garden of Eden was lost. Jesus came to restore it. When we repent from our sins, when we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior He restores our lives by forgiving our sins.
He takes away death from our lives. He said in John 5:24, "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life." Yes, finding Jesus is finding life and passing from death to life. What a privilege it is that you will never die but live forever with Jesus if you give your life to Jesus. If you have not yet given your life to Jesus, this is the moment when you can give your life to Jesus and receive that life from Him.
He fills us with great peace. When Jesus died on the cross, His disciples were devastated but when they saw the risen Lord, their hearts were filled with great peace and joy. He wants to do the same for us. He wants to heal our broken hearts, He wants to restore our wounded and bruised life and He wants to give us a new life and new start.
Today, you may be filled with great sorrow, you may be in tears, you may be thinking that there is no hope for you but today come to Jesus. He is the restorer of our lives. He can restore your life.
I Want to Live!
By Sherly Isaac
Recently there was a building collapse in Bangladesh. Many died and many were injured in that incident. One young man was pulled from the rubble. He was hanging to his dear life and kept repeating, "I want to live".
Isn't it the cry of humanity "I want to live"? Nobody wants to die but everyone wants to live. We have so many ways in this modern world how to live a longer life. But unfortunately one day sooner or later death will knock at our doors. Are you ready for that moment?
More than that there is a life beyond physical death. Bible tells us that there is heaven and hell. Those who have received forgiveness of their sins will go to heaven but those who have not received forgiveness of their sins will go to hell. Jesus said in John 8:24, "Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for if you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your sins." Bible also tells us how we can escape death, that is, eternal death as we read in Ezekiel 18:31-32, "Cast away from you all the transgressions which you have committed, and get yourselves a new heart and a new spirit. For why should you die, O house of Israel? For I have no pleasure in the death of one who dies," says the Lord GOD. "Therefore turn and live!"
If you continue in sin, sure death awaits you as the Bible tells us in Romans 6:23, "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Wages of sin is death but Jesus gave His precious life for us so that we could come out of death and eternal damnation and live forever.
Today He wants to give you a new life. He wants to turn around your life and situations, if you just come to Him. Not only Jesus gives eternal life but also He heals our sicknesses and restores our health. In the Bible we read about a man named Hezekiah who was sick and near death. But when Hezekiah cried unto the Lord, He heard his prayers and healed him and extended his life for 15 more years. 2 Kings 20:1 In those days Hezekiah was sick and near death. And Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, went to him and said to him, "Thus says the LORD: 'Set your house in order, for you shall die, and not live.' Then he turned his face toward the wall, and prayed to the LORD, saying, "Remember now, O LORD, I pray, how I have walked before You in truth and with a loyal heart, and have done what was good in Your sight." And Hezekiah wept bitterly. And it happened, before Isaiah had gone out into the middle court, that the word of the LORD came to him, saying, "Return and tell Hezekiah the leader of My people, 'Thus says the LORD, the God of David your father: "I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears; surely I will heal you. On the third day you shall go up to the house of the LORD. And I will add to your days fifteen years. I will deliver you and this city from the hand of the king of Assyria; and I will defend this city for My own sake, and for the sake of My servant David."' "
Thus God helped Hezekiah in his deepest trouble. The same God who helped Hezekiah can help you in your troubles and He can rescue you. Would you look to Him?
