The tragedy that happened in Boston shook the whole world. It was a beautiful morning when two bombs were exploded. It killed three including a child 8 year old and many were injured and many lost their legs. We cannot understand why anybody should do these types of things to kill others or harm others. What did they gain by doing this after all? One suspect lost his life and another was found seriously injured. Probably we may not understand but this is the result of wickedness. Bible rightfully tells us that the wages of sin is death. We read in Romans 6:23, "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."

This verse just does not tell about physical death but also eternal death. Our sins separate us forever from God. With all our sins we cannot see God or go in the presence of God. He is holy and if we really want to be in His presence, we need to be holy as well. When Adam and Eve sinned against God in the Garden of Eden, Bible tells that the very moment they sinned; they died spiritually though they were physically alive. They were separated from God and thrown out of the sight of God and from His holy presence. But God in His mercy made a way so that they could reconcile with God again.

And that was the only reason that brought Jesus in this world. He shed His precious blood on the cruel cross and gave His precious life for us so that we may not die but live forever. He came to give abundant life. Jesus Himself said in John 10:10, "The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly."

If anybody comes to kill, he/she is not from God. God will never tell anybody to go and kill others. But Jesus came to give us life, 'abundant life'. This life that Jesus gives will never fade away but will be for forever and forever. He is ready to give this life for you and me, if we just come to Him and give our life to Him.

A Guilt Free Life

By Sherly Isaac

Once I heard a story. There lived a family in a village. They had a big farm. The grandmother had a big duck. But her small grandson did not like the big duck she kept. One day the boy was in the farm and he saw the duck coming towards him. He felt very bad. He took a big stone in his hand and threw over the duck and beat it until the duck was dead. But his elder sister saw everything and she threatened him that she will tell grandma everything. Johnny begged her and she agreed not to tell anybody if he obeyed her commands.

When he returned home grandma asked, "Where is the duck, why we are not seeing it"? Johnny kept his silence then said, I do not know. When everybody had their lunch, his sister told him to clean her dishes along with his. Johnny wasn't ready to do it so she rolled her eyes and said, "I will tell everything to grandma". Now he was afraid and obeyed his sister. Every time Johnny worked for his sister (though he was not willing) so that he may not be exposed of his crime. His heart was full of guilt and fear of what he did.

One day his grandpa was going to the city; he made ready his horse carriage and loaded the goods. Johnny also wanted to go with him but his sister again told him to do such and such work until they come back. When Johnny protested she again used the duck incident and again threatened him that if he does not obey her, she will expose him. Poor Johnny went back to work for her. When they had all gone to the city, he and his grandma were left alone. Finally Johnny could not take it any more and he went to grandma, wept bitterly and told what he did and asked for forgiveness of his misdeed. Grandma hugged him and wiped away his tears. It was like a big burden lifted from his shoulder.

In the evening when all had dinner, his sister told him to clean her dishes as well. When Johnny refused to that, she threatened to expose him. But this time Johnny wasn't afraid of her threat. He had already received forgiveness of his crime from his grandma. He was at peace.

This is what the devil did with us. Humankind sinned against God and devil used it to blackmail them. But how simple it is to just come to the creator against whom we have sinned and just ask for forgiveness of sin. It is that simple. Jesus said in Matthew 11:28, "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."

Today there is forgiveness of sin, there is guilt free life if we just come to Jesus and ask for forgiveness of our sins. He is ready to forgive and forget all our sins. He is ready to give us a new life and new start.
