Jesus said in John 10:10, "The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly."

In the last few weeks there was news that two of the journalists who went to Syria were first reported as kidnapped and then that they were beheaded. It is horrible that those who are killing others or beheading others think that they are doing some kind of religious work. But Jesus said "The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly." What a contrast in Jesus' words and acts!

When a person has been kidnapped and when he/she is in captivity there is no freedom and that person has to do every thing according to the will of his/her kidnapper. Jesus said in John 8:34-35, "Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin. And a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever."

Bible tells us that God created Adam and Eve in His own image and in His own likeness and gave them authority over everything and freedom for everything. But one day they sinned against God obeying the voice of the devil. Sin came in this world and took away their freedom from them. Since then they became the slave of devil destined to die and to go to hell. That's what the enemy does, he comes to steal, kill and destroy. But I have good news for you. Jesus came in this world to take us out of our sins and our captivity and to bring us to freedom and Jesus said in John 8:36, "Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed."

Not only that but Jesus come to give us eternal life. Sin brings death but forgiveness of sin brings salvation and eternal life. If you want eternal safety for your life, you can give your life to Jesus. Those lives given in the hands of Jesus are safe forever. Psalmist says in Psa 23:6, "Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the LORD Forever."

My friend, are you afraid for your life, do you feel that your life is in danger? Jesus can give you protection physically and spiritually both. If you give your life to Jesus, He will gladly protect you and keep you safe forever in His mighty hands.

The God who comes searching for us!

There was a man who was possessed by devil and he was in a very bad shape. No one cared about him; no one ever dared to come near him because he was a very violent man. He was bound by chains many a times but he broke loose himself every time. He used to live in a deserted place among the tombs where no one used to go. And always, night and day, he was in the mountains and in the tombs, crying out and cutting himself with stones. He was in such a pathetic state because there were more than 6000 demons inside him.

We just do not know why and how he got these many demons but it is possible that he might have lived in some kind of sins which might have attracted the demons in his life. Or he might have experimented with witchcraft powers and could have invited demons himself in his life. Whatever was the reason, those demons created havoc in his life and put him in such a dire state that he became hopeless and helpless. His family members forsook him. Naturally speaking, he had no future!

Probably wandering in those tombs, cutting himself, harming himself yet somewhere from a corner of his heart he might have cried out to God, "how long, I will go like this?.... how long....?"

And one day, he looked at the shores of the sea and he saw Jesus coming. A man who was not even in his senses, how it is even possible for him to recognize Jesus? But those demons recognized Jesus that the Lord of lords and King of kings is coming, Almighty God is coming. So this man ran to Jesus and worshipped Him. Now demons speaking through this man as we read in Mark 5:7, And he cried out with a loud voice and said, "What have I to do with You, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I implore You by God that You do not torment me."

Long story short, those demons were history as soon as this man had an encounter with Jesus. Jesus commanded the evil spirits to come out of that man and immediately that man was healed and delivered. He became completely normal person. He came to his senses and sat at the feet of Jesus in his right mind. What a transformation that took place in his life. A new hope and new life came in his life.

In a deserted place where no one used to go and where Jesus also did not need to go in that place yet He went searching for this one man who was in desperate need of deliverance. It is not a coincidence that Jesus stepped out of the boat in the same place where this man was. But He moved with compassion when He heard the cries of this man. We read this in Mark 5:18-19, "And when He got into the boat, he who had been demon-possessed begged Him that he might be with Him. However, Jesus did not permit him, but said to him, "Go home to your friends, and tell them what great things the Lord has done for you, and how He has had compassion on you."

My dear friend, even today Jesus' love and compassion is searching for you. He wants to deliver you, change your situations and wants to wipe away your tears. Not only that but He wants to deliver you from your sins and wants to give you eternal life. For the very purpose He came to this world searching for you and me and went to the cross so that we could get forgiveness of our sins. He is ready to forgive and forget all our sins. Would you come to Him?
