Psalms 115:9-13, "O Israel, trust in the LORD; He is their help and their shield. O house of Aaron, trust in the LORD; He is their help and their shield. You who fear the LORD, trust in the LORD; He is their help and their shield. The LORD has always been mindful of us; He will bless us; He will bless the house of Israel; He will bless the house of Aaron. He will bless those who fear the LORD, Both small and great."
Bible tells us that when we trust in the Lord, He helps us and brings us out of our troubles. At times when problems arise we feel as if we are finished. It seems as if there is no way out. Recently a very famous fashion designer committed suicide. When the case was investigated, they found out that she had more than six million dollars in debt and had probably broken off from her long time partner. What a tragic end for a promising fashion designer! Yes, my friend, this is what happens when our trust is not in God but in material or movable things. When money is gone, we don't feel like living any more. When family and friends are gone, it brings great dejection in one's life and makes them feel as if there is no meaning in living further.
But if we trust in the Lord, we can face tomorrow with boldness, no matter what tomorrow may bring in our lives. Psalmist says in Psalms 125:1, "Those who trust in the LORD Are like Mount Zion, Which cannot be moved, but abides forever."
Jesus spoke a parable (Luke 6:48-49) that a wise man built his house on the rock who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house, and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock, but a foolish man built his house on sand. He who heard and did nothing is like a man who built a house on the earth without a foundation, against which the stream beat vehemently; and immediately it fell. And the ruin of that house was great."
Jesus is that rock where we can build our life. Jesus is that rock where we can put a sure foundation for our life. Those lives which are not given in the hands of Jesus are in great danger of becoming a great ruin. Because all other ground is sinking sand.
When you have given your life to Jesus, it does not mean that your life will become completely smooth. No, but sure flood will arose, streams will beat vehemently against you, all the hell will break loose but Jesus will not allow you to be destroyed. He will carry you through those storms and bring you safely to the shore.
More than that if you have given your life to Jesus, that means eternal security for your life. Because Jesus is able to forgive our sins and He is able to give us eternal life.
If you have not yet given your life to Jesus, today is the day when you can give your life to Jesus for the salvation of your soul and for eternal life. Please pray this prayer with me: Lord Jesus I am a sinner. Please forgive and forget all my sins and wash me with your precious blood. Today I give my life into your mighty hand. Please give me a life that will never end. I thank you Jesus for hearing my prayer and saving my soul from eternal damnation. I pray this prayer in Jesus name! Amen!
How to get forgiveness of our sins? Part 3
By Sherly Isaac
If we really want to get forgiveness of our sins, we need to go to whom who could forgive our sins. In the Bible we read that Jesus forgave the sins of people time and time again. When He forgave the sins of people, it raised the eyebrows of the Pharisees and the Priest of that time. They thought that Jesus was blaspheming God because no one can forgive the sins of others except God. But we read the explanation of Jesus in Matthew 9:1-8, "So Jesus got into a boat, crossed over, and came to His own city. Then behold, they brought to Him a paralytic lying on a bed. When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, "Son, be of good cheer; your sins are forgiven you." And at once some of the scribes said within themselves, "This Man blasphemes!" But Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said, "Why do you think evil in your hearts? For which is easier, to say, 'Your sins are forgiven you,' or to say, 'Arise and walk'? But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins"; then He said to the paralytic, "Arise, take up your bed, and go to your house." And he arose and departed to his house. Now when the multitudes saw it, they marveled and glorified God, who had given such power to men.
Jesus not only healed a man who was paralytic but also He forgave the sins of that person. How He did it? He just spoke a sentence, ""Son, be of good cheer; your sins are forgiven you." His words brought healing in his spiritual life and also in his physical life. Not only that but Jesus proved Himself that He is the God who forgives our sins and that He is from the beginning but He came down in this world taking the form of a man just to take away our sins from us.
In this world so many gurus, so many teachers, so many good people have come and gone but none of them had power over sin. None of them ever had power over life or death. None of them could ever forgive anybody's sins.
Mohammad the founder of Islam said in his last moments that he was not sure where he is going.
I once read a very tragic story of a young mother whose son died and she sought help from Gouhama Buddha. This young mother had two year old son who died and Kisa Gotami was stricken with grief. Carrying her dead son, she went everywhere asking for medicine to restore her son to life. People thought she had gone mad. But a wise man seeing her pathetic condition, decided to send her to Buddha.
He advised her: "Sister, Buddha is the person you should approach. He has the medicine you want. Go to him."
Thus she went to Buddha and asked him to give her the medicine that would restore her dead son to life. Buddha told her to get some mustard seeds from a home where there had been no death. Overjoyed at the prospect of having her son restored to life, Kisa Gotami ran from house to house, begging for some mustard seeds. Everyone was willing to help but she could not find a single home where death had not occurred. The people were only too willing to part with their mustard seeds, but they could not claim to have not lost a dear one in death. As the day dragged on, she realized hers was not the only family that had faced death and that there were more people dead than living.
After burying her son she returned to Buddha and he said to her, "O dear Kisa Gotami! All things in this world are perishable. Nothing is permanent. The world is full of Miseries & tribulations. We are all troubled by birth, death, sickness, old age and pain. It will be foolish not to expect these things to happen. If we do that, it will lead to misery and suffering."
What a disappointing answer it was from Buddha and you can see that Buddha had no solution for Kisa Gotami whose son died and she was grieving. But look at the life of Jesus, whoever came to Jesus, He not only provided a solution, raised the dead, healed the sick and more than that Jesus wiped away their sins.
Where could you find such a Savior Jesus who can help you in your dire need? Yes, my friend, Jesus has all the answers for your deepest quests; He has all the power to bring your dead child into life. He can even forgive your sins. If you give your life to Jesus, He is ready to help you, he is ready to wipe away all your tears and He is ready to give you eternal life.
