Sometimes people think, "We are good people... we have lived a normal life.... and no doubt we will go to heaven." But Bible tells us in Psalms 9:17, "The wicked shall be turned into hell, And all the nations that forget God." Who is the wicked in God's sight? Those who break the law of God, if a person has spoken a lie or if a person has killed someone, both are equally sinners in the sight of God. In God's sight sin is sin no matter whether it is a big sin or small sin. And sin separates us from God. In fact no one is righteous as we read in Romans 3:10 where it is written: "There is none righteous, no, not one;"
Ever since Adam and Eve sinned against God, no one could go in the presence of God without being washed in the blood of the lamb. Because God is Holy no sin or sinner could ever enter in His presence. There was a curtain in the temple which separated God from man. Only the appointed priest could go in the holy of holies and could do the required duties of the temple. Holy of holies was the place where God spoke to Moses and to the other priest and prophets. If a person who was not holy would enter in the holy of holies would get killed or struck with grave sicknesses.
There was a king named Uzziah who tried to go inside the holy of holies and brought destruction on himself as we read in 2 Chronicles 26:16-20, "But when he was strong his heart was lifted up, to his destruction, for he transgressed against the LORD his God by entering the temple of the LORD to burn incense on the altar of incense. So Azariah the priest went in after him, and with him were eighty priests of the LORD; valiant men. And they withstood King Uzziah, and said to him, "It is not for you, Uzziah, to burn incense to the LORD, but for the priests, the sons of Aaron, who are consecrated to burn incense. Get out of the sanctuary, for you have trespassed! You shall have no honor from the LORD God." Then Uzziah became furious; and he had a censer in his hand to burn incense. And while he was angry with the priests, leprosy broke out on his forehead, before the priests in the house of the LORD, beside the incense altar. And Azariah the chief priest and all the priests looked at him, and there, on his forehead, he was leprous; so they thrust him out of that place. Indeed he also hurried to get out, because the LORD had struck him."
So nobody can go in the presence of holy God without holiness. That is the reason why Jesus came in this world to make a way for us so that we could get forgiveness of our sins through His precious blood and we could enter in the presence of God. He shed His precious blood on the cruel cross and because of that today we can get forgiveness of our sins.
You may think that you might have done so many mistakes and have committed so many sins in your life but today, Jesus is ready to forgive and forget all your sins if you come to Him. If you repent of your sins, He will forgive your sins and give you a new life. More than that He will give you eternal life.
Rebellion is as the Sin of Witchcraft
By Sherly Isaac
1 Sam 15:23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, And stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry...
Every sin starts with rebellion. Before God even made man, He created the angels. The chief angel who was called Lucifer rebelled against God. We read about his pride in Isaiah 14:12-15, "How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground, You who weakened the nations! For you have said in your heart: 'I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will also sit on the mount of the congregation On the farthest sides of the north; I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Most High.' Yet you shall be brought down to Sheol, To the lowest depths of the Pit."
Pride came in to his heart and he was determined to become like the Most High God. His pride was the reason for his fall. This is the same Lucifer whom we now know as the devil. This is the same Lucifer who approached Eve in the garden of Eden and convinced her that as soon as she eats the fruit of the tree, she would be able to become like God as we read in Genesis 3:5, "For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."
The full conversation of Eve and the devil is in Genesis 3:1-5, "Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, "Has God indeed said, 'You shall not eat of every tree of the garden'?" And the woman said to the serpent, "We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden; but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, 'You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die. Then the serpent said to the woman, "You will not surely die. For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."
By disobeying God, Adam and Eve sinned against God and their thought of becoming like God or above God is considered as the greatest sin. Even today the same sin of becoming a god lurks in the shadows of the minds of people, religious institutes and so on. Many are trying to fulfill their desire to become God through new age, yoga, occult, witchcraft, self realization etc.
But all these things are sin in the sight of God. But if a person humbles himself and repents of his sins and turn to God, God can bless him and exalt him before others. Instead of going along the way of the devil, turn to God. God is ready to forgive and forget all your sins and ready to accept you as His sons and daughters. Would you come to Jesus today?
