John 7:37-39, "On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, "If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water." But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.
What is meant by living water? and, "What happens when a person drinks this living water?" As the name suggests living water gives life to one and this life is not going to fade away but it is eternal life.
We can find hundreds and hundreds of religions in this world and many religious leaders, but no one had ever promised to give living water which can take death away from us. But Jesus promised to give us eternal life. In one of the Hadiths which are narrations concerning the words and deeds of the Islamic prophet Mohammad who gives horrific details of those (Muslims) who are supposed to go down to hell fire specially Muslims.
Volume 1, Book 12, Number 770: Narrated Abu Huraira:
The people said, "O Allah's Apostle! Shall we see our Lord on the Day of Resurrection?" He replied, "Do you have any doubt in seeing the full moon on a clear (not cloudy) night?" They replied, "No, O Allah's Apostle!" He said, "Do you have any doubt in seeing the sun when there are no clouds?" They replied in the negative. He said, "You will see Allah (your Lord) in the same way. On the Day of Resurrection, people will be gathered and He will order the people to follow what they used to worship. So some of them will follow the sun, some will follow the moon, and some will follow other deities; and only this nation (Muslims) will be left with its hypocrites. Allah will come to them and say, 'I am Your Lord.' They will say, 'We shall stay in this place till our Lord comes to us and when our Lord will come, we will recognize Him. Then Allah will come to them again and say, 'I am your Lord.' They will say, 'You are our Lord.' Allah will call them, and As-Sirat (a bridge) will be laid across Hell and I (Muhammad) shall be the first amongst the Apostles to cross it with my followers. Nobody except the Apostles will then be able to speak and they will be saying then, 'O Allah! Save us. O Allah Save us.'
There will be hooks like the thorns of Sa'dan in Hell. Have you seen the thorns of Sa'dan?" The people said, "Yes." He said, "These hooks will be like the thorns of Sa'dan but nobody except Allah knows their greatness in size and these will entangle the people according to their deeds; some of them will fall and stay in Hell forever; others will receive punishment (torn into small pieces) and will get out of Hell, till when Allah intends mercy on whomever He likes amongst the people of Hell, He will order the angels to take out of Hell those who worshipped none but Him alone. The angels will take them out by recognizing them from the traces of prostrations, for Allah has forbidden the (Hell) fire to eat away those traces. So they will come out of the Fire, it will eat away from the whole of the human body except the marks of the prostrations. At that time they will come out of the Fire as mere skeletons. The Water of Life will be poured on them and as a result they will grow like the seeds growing on the bank of flowing water......
When I read this first time, I felt so sorry that I wept bitterly and every time when I read this it brought tears in my eyes. What a horrible fate waiting for those who would never receive the living water. But Jesus is ready to give Living water to those who ask for it.
Once Jesus was traveling and "He came to a city of Samaria near the plot of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph, called by the name Sychar. Now Jacob's well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied from His journey, sat by the well. It was about the sixth hour and one Samaritan woman came to draw water from the well. "(John 4:5-6). And as Jesus had a conversation with her Jesus asked her, if she wanted the living water so that she may never thirst again. Then again Jesus spoke to her and said in John 4:10, "If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, 'Give Me a drink, 'you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water." And further Jesus says in John 4:13-14, "Whoever drinks of this water (water from the well) will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life."
My friend, this living water is available for us when we are in this world itself so that we may never end up in hellfire, but would have eternal life. You are not to wait for getting it after your life ends on this earth, but get ready to receive it now itself by accepting Jesus!

During the last two weeks we have seen how John MacArthur had misunderstood the real meaning of the words of Jesus and how he has misrepresented the true Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Again I quote from John MacArthur's book titled, "Hard to Believe: The High Cost and Infinite Value of Following Jesus", page 2: "The true gospel is a call to self-denial. It is not a call to self-fulfillment. And that puts it in opposition to the contemporary evangelical gospel, where ministers view Jesus as a utilitarian genie. You rub the lamp, and He jumps out and says you have whatever you want; you give Him your list and He delivers."
I am completely amazed to read that John MacArthur called Jesus as "utilitarian genie". Jesus Himself told His disciples in John 16:23-24, "....Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you. Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full."
If you have known God as your Father, if you have become His child by the precious blood that was shed on the cruel cross, then you have all the rights to ask whatever you want from God. Bible tells us that God is a provider and He provides best things to His children.
I remember that when I was a child and when my dad used to go for his official duties and when he goes to big cities we would give him a list of items that are either not easily available in our place or does not have a great selection. Then we would eagerly wait for his return to have those items. In one of his trips, I wanted high healed shoes. When I told him, he said, "How could I know which shoe will fit you?" Finally it was decided to draw the shape of my feet on a paper and he took it with him. When he brought the new pairs of high healed shoes, they were a perfect fit for me. My point is that, how much our earthly father cares for us and wants to satisfy up to our smallest desires, then why God will not care for His children who put their trust in Him?
But the question is, "Are you a child of God?" Apostle Paul says in Galatians 4:6-7, "And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, "Abba, Father! Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ."
You are not only a child of God but also an heir of God. What does it mean to be "heir of God"?
Dictionary meaning tells us that heir is a person who inherits or is entitled to inherit the rank, title, position, etc., of another. Also, heir is a person who inherits or has a right of inheritance in the property of another."
If you have accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, if you have become a child of God, you are entitled; you have full rights to inherit whatever is of God because He is your Father. Whatever is of your father is yours. The day you take shelter under the wings of Almighty God, it is His responsibility to provide for you and take care of you because you are a child of the Most High God. Bible tells us in Romans 8:32, "He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?"
And in Matthew 7:8-11, "For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!"
If John MacArthur had understood this simple relationship of Father and son/daughter, he would never have written about Jesus "utilitarian genie" but would have fallen at His feet for the great love He showed for us on the cruel cross so that our lives could be saved from hell fire.
